A firefighter battling a house fire in Anna Arundel County was able to bail out of the structure shortly before flashing over.

A firefighter in Anna Arundel County had a close call when they bailed out of a first-story window seconds before the room flashed over.

Firefighters from Anna Arundel County were called to a one-story single-family dwelling fire on the 2100 block of Shore Drive in Edgewater on Tuesday.

First arriving units from Anne Arundel County Fire Department reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the building, with fire extension into the attic, Patch Edgewater-Davidsonville, MD reported.

Firefighters initiated an offensive attack and established a water supply.  With the fire quickly advancing and the roof beginning to lose structural stability command made the decision to evacuate the building.

Crews transitioned to an exterior attack until conditions allowed crews back in the structure to pull the remaining ceilings and extinguish any hot spots left.

Fire crews from the Naval Support Activity Annapolis Fire Department and Annapolis Fire Department assisted with operations.
